This week, AMIP held its Q3 Event FutureProof Manufacturing: Real Strategies for Profit and Planet. Our event was sponsored by Melink Solar and was held at the Cincinnati Zoo. This sold-out member event focused on learning lessons on sustainability from the Zoo and manufacturing leadership. The NEW Elephant Trek was the perfect backdrop. Not only is sustainability good for our community, it is good for business.
Mark Fisher of the Cincinnati Zoo shared the inspiring story of the Zoo’s transformation into a financially viable, vibrant, eco-friendly, and responsible neighbor for Avondale. Mark’s message advises us to: “Break the Rules, Be Relentless, and Be Ready” to take advantage of opportunities.
Our members also were inspired to learn about the Zoo’s initiatives to spread these lessons to the communities who need them most around the world, in the US, and in our own backyard. We heard inspiring stories, such as their initiatives in solar energy production, water conservation impacting Rockdale Academy and in Kenya.
We so appreciate Marvin Cunningham of Long-Stanton and Jason Reid of Flint Group for sharing their sustainability top tips on our panel! They shared strategies on how to reuse gases, energy conservation and alternative energy sources. Both organizations are hard at work to make their workplaces more profitable, sustainable, safer, and attractive to future generations.
We are grateful to the AMIP leadership team for their support, Melink Solar for their sponsorship, and to Monica Niehaus, Melink Solar, for facilitating our panel and assisting with planning! Thanks to the Cincinnati Zoo for their beautiful venue, their catering team, and their animal encounter with a tortoise!
